It's quite possible that the problem is not in your midi setup, it's in Shortcircuit. It stumped me for the first hour or so.

Go to www.kvraudio.com and search for Synth1 or 4Front Piano or anything by HG Fortune. These are all free and 4Front Piano is cross-platform so it doesn't matter if you're using Mac or PC.

Then load it and experiment. You'll probably have it working in 10 minutes...

...The midi interface's "IN" port is connected to where it says "IN" on my synth and "OUT" is connected to "OUT." Also, if it makes any difference, I also have an audio interface (Yamaha Audiogram 3) connected between my synth and computer. (I got the audio interface to work just fine.)

That's wrong. It goes from the out port of your interface to the in port of your synth and vice versa.
