Try the guitar out in a store first - even if you can get a good deal on one via Ebay or mail-order, play a sample version at a store.
If they have this in stock in a local Guitar Center, you can get it for the same price minus the constant coupon deals they always have going.

Ibanez guitars are good. People say they don't have the best clean tones, but I can get a pretty nice sound out of my RG 220. I'd try it out in the store first and then go buy it wherever you can get it for the cheapest.

300 is about the going price for a used MIM Strat.

Yeah, I passed on a lefty MIJ Strat because the girl selling it would not come down to $300- $325 was her bottom line! I'm of mixed emotions about that- on the one hand, I got stupid and passed on a good deal, on the other hand, if I had bought it, I would not have had the money for a USA Strat I found a month later. Personally, I'm glad I got the USA.

TASCAM 1800.....I have the 1641(er...my son does now) and its really been a great "invisible" tool...so happy with it.
I say invisble in a good way, with a SM7 and Joe Meek VC3, some really good tracks.

$300 range used....CraigsListWorld all the way, save 50%. ... its worth getting mugged in a parking lot fof 50%....

seriously, $300 ..single coils, humbuckers and P90's would be my tone decision.
