Hi all,

First time poster here. I'm currently recording my band through a Tascam DP-02 which is doing a fine job however it's a bit fidly when it comes to editting. I've decided to get an USB interface with bundled software to do more of the work on there but I'm a bit stuck on interface and software. I think I've narrowed it down to 3 but I need some advice on which one is best.

The 3 I've narrowed it down to are:

1. Fast Track 2 USB Audio Interface with dual input and mic preamp + Pro Tools Software
can be found on the amazon.co.uk website

2. Digidesign MBOX 2 Mini with Pro Tools LE Software
can be found on the andertons.co.uk website

3. Alesis IO2 EXPRESS USB Interface
can also be found on the andertons.co.uk website

A built in preamp is essential. I'd like to have something with an auto tune feature, and amp simulation. A good selection of plug-ins would be helpful as well.

Thanks in advance guys!

so, you're looking for a 2 input USB device ?
What OS are you using ?

Tascam US-122L
Tascam US-122mkII
ART Pro Audio - TubeMP Project Series with USB
E-MU - 0202 USB - Audio Interface
Edirol UA25
Presonus Audiobox

Hi,

I'm using Win7 64bit.

Being able to record 2 lines at a time would be useful as it means I can send my electric kits signal in stereo but mostly I just want to know which of the three comes with the best software for my needs.

Are you selling your DP-02 ? Does it work as in interface ? Does your E-kit have midi ?

I think either of the protools offers includes a basic amp sim.

Reaper. It has tuning capabilities. Unless your singer is way way off ( look for another singer :P ) then I suggest using it sparingly.

Guitar Rig 4 from Native Instruments. Its abso-effin-lutely awesome. It comes in NI bundles and upgrade options.

I'd go with the Alesis only because it has analog inserts. It comes with Ableton Live, and I'm a Cubase guy, but it is still the only interface on your wish list with analog inserts. Even just putting a compressor in there will make everything go smoother, and you'll wonder why no one else mentions this. You can thank me later. ;)
