Has anyone successfully connected 3 Q10's to a PC without crashing? Looking at doing this some time next month if it works!

Gixxer, are you aware of anyone with 2 Q10's connected to a single machine?

Not at the moment. I'm building a DAW for a neighbour and I have all the PC components picked out as well as software (Samplitude or Sonar) and all I need is the audio interface. Was planning on Motu but apparently they suck with PC's. RME interfaces don't offer enough XLR inputs as I need (18 minimum) so I was left with the Q10 and I need 3 of them! Oh ya, what's wrong with Motu and PC's. Is it drivers? Software? Tech support?
But anyways, I need this hardware soon for this guy and I don't know what to pick. I say Motu, they say its crap. I say Q10, and no one can get more than one on a single machine. *Confused*

Have you considered going with a Delta 1010? No pre's but your better off getting a stand alone preamp anyhow, unless you have a Neve console stashed in your basement. Just a thought but I'd consider getting a mixer. You are going to need "18" inputs at once?

I have never needed more than 7 inputs at once and I have an 8 channel mixer but I'll have 40-50 tracks running in Sonar.

Building this DAW for a friend who will be recording a live band at a church(I think). I'm just getting what he told me to get. First thing I said was "Holy Crap! 18 XLR inputs!" and he said "Yup!" and I said "You're the boss, it's your $ so I'll get you 18 inputs"
The Delta 1010 won't work because all his mics are XLR inputs and he doesn't want to be using adapters.

And the 1010 has no pre's.

Why not get a mixer? I think life is going to be difficult without a console. You could get a 24 channel mixer, run all your inputs to it then group some outputs to a 1010 or Motu or whatever....problem solved. You could do this without buying any preamps and just use the pre's in the mixer. Later on you could buy nicer rack type pre's as your need's/budget grow.

Would you be able to give an example of a console and audio interface combo that would suit my needs? I'm not to familiar with the console world. By the way, the whole idea of using the PC audio interface was to get rid a console mixer that he currently owns but finds it too big and heavy. He wants something he can mix on a PC screen. I guess I could consider a console setup, as a last resort, if it's not too big or heavy because some transportation will be involved. Thx in advance.

I would get the MOTU 24 I/O and a mixer. I hate MOTU stuff, but that is an awesome deal, and if I was switching platforms, that would be my interface of choice. It will save you money and trouble in the long run.

The reason some people think MOTU sucks on the PC is because their flagship software, Digital Performer, only runs on the Mac. However, you can run their hardware with many other apps, and it will work great.

What mixer do you suggest that has 24 XLR inputs and is fairly portable? Probably difficult to find but I need one.

for the record, I am now running two Q10 into a Dual AMD machine with little to no heartache.
