Ok, I've uploaded my three latest songs:

The first one is pretty much my typical hard rock self, the second has a nu-punk kinda feel to it and the third is a ballard for my wifey. All songs are entirley me recorded in my garage on my Fostex VF160.

Let me know what you all think.

Dave.

Bump...

I know you're not supposed to bump your own threads, but i was hoping to get some feedback on my new stuff...

Come on guys...

Dave.

Dave,
I had a listen to Gravity. You sound like you put a fair amount of effort into it, so good job in that regard.

Technically, the music is ok. The drums annoyed me. I didn't like all the double bass rebound kicks. It was a tad overdone. I can't really say anything about the guitar except that it wasn't very 'tight', making the song sound lethargic and a bit off time. Overall, the music was recorded quite well, but it needed more style and energy.

The vocals were off tune in many places. Sorry, but that just needs lots and lots of practise. Your voice actually has a good sound...a bit like supertramp's lead singer. Work on your singing technique...then go work on it some more. That's my honest review of your song. Best of luck to you.

Listening to the 1st one now, and the snare drum is standing out to me somehow. I'm imagining harmonies at different parts than where you have them, but that's just my arranging preference. Yea, your voice is off the pitches at parts, but not all parts and I'm not sure it matters much since it's Rock. It kicks ass pretty good tho. I like it. and your pitch matching improved a lot after the first half. It's not pretentious at all and that's a big thing to not be.

Listening to second track. First thing that comes to my mind is, why try to be so technically difficult with all the rhythms that have to be syched. Less is more and I hate technically ornamental rock, but that's just me. It's recorded very well. As far as the song, i like the words i've heard, they have some intelligence, and that's appealing to me. I'd have to listen a lot more to get the song. That vf160 sounds nice, man.
