All 3 of these songs were recorded on the BR-8 with out any out board gear or effects ( i.e.: No preamps or effects). I wanted to see what kind of sound I could get with nothing more than an SM58 for vocals, and all instruments being plugged directly into the BR-8. Even the acoustic guitars went in direct. No micing. And all of the percussion comes from the BR-8's rhythm machine.

I am open to any comments or suggestions. I am looking to rerecord all of these and would like to know what people liked and what they didn't like.

Thanks for any feed back.

The songs can be heard at http://djbreck.iuma.com

The page link wouldn't load .

I saw a interview with Prince where the interviewer asked Prince why he haven't had a 'hit' lately, he replied " All my songs are 'hits' to me, whenever someone creates anything it is good." I just wanted to pass this along to you whenever you ask for someone's comment on your songs.

72Fender, Thanks for your comments. Prince is one of my favorite musicians. Still one of the best live shows I have ever seen was the LOVE SEXY tour. Truly incredable.

BTW, IUMA seems to be down today. Their front page seems to be working but the artist pages seems to be down. Thanks for trying. I hope you get a chance to try again after it's back up and running.

David - Your songs sound great, such uplifting lyrcs :). Composition was good, I like your riffs following the melody lines too. Beef up the bass line a little, but it could be my computer speakers. I did buy a used Fender Squire P-Bass for $100, it records alright. I did create a new bass patch for it, it was a little weak sounding.

Do you know that you can tweak the drum sound (a little)? You can add reverb and eq by scrolling with the cursor buttons to left (I think, I'm not near my BR-8). You know a better sounding drum machine would be better but the Rhytum Guide is very useful. I have a DR-5 and will sometimes just record using the Rhytum Guide and than later MIDI sync the DR-5 to the BR-8 and record the drums.

72Fender, thank you so much for the listen. I really love a good strong bass line...So your comments are well taken. I just added one more tune if you get a chance. It's called Big "D" and it's an instrumental.I hope you like it.

BTW: I am really looking foward to rerecording all of these tunes on the new BR-1180CD. It will allow me a lot more flexability with the percussion or rhythm tracks (It will allow me to import and export from my Sonar that I have on my computer).

Thanks Again.

David,

I had a listen to "Big D" and "I'm Saved" this morning....good stuff man....I really enjoyed your work. I know your only using the built in Rythmn machine but is there anyway you could boost up the volume on the rythmn machine just a hair? it's a little hard to hear, but man, other than that, great stuff !

Keep at it...The BR-8 is a great machine.

Here's 3 of mine that I did on my BR-8....

these are all recorded direct using the COSM effects from the BR-8...I'm a late night recorder so I need the ability to record quietly...( the kids are sleeping !)...any way, have a listen if your interested....I use a drum Machine...

Thanks,

Telegib.

Thanks!!

I was just trying to check out some other Christian artist at www.iuma.com and noticed that my site or tunes were rated at #3 for TOP DOWN LOADS in the Christian Genre. That got me kind of excited. Thanks for any one who took the time to listen to some of my tunes. Really!! I hope you enjoyed them.

I plan on recording a lot more tunes but I just sold my Boss BR-8 and am waiting for the new Boss BR-1180CD to come out. So I might have to wait a while before I can record any more....It's driving me nuts. I've got so many ideas in my head...I've just got to record...I wouldn't have sold my recorder if I thought that it would take this long to get the new one. Oh well. Thanks again to everyone who listened and made any comments and suggestions.

Telegib, Thanks for the great comments. I am so excited about getting my new Boss BR-1180CD so I can re-record a lot of my tunes and record a bunch of new ones, but you ARE right...The BR-8 is a lot of machine for the money. I just loved it.

I woun't be able to check out your tunes until late tonight or some time tomarrow but I am really looking forward to hearing them.

Keep recording and have fun. Thanks again!!

Hi David!

Hey, I like your tunes, man! Real nice!

I've been playin quite a while now and started recording some of my work on a br-8. I would like to share some of my stuff with you guys but I'm not too well versed on all this MP3 files business...or whatever it is (yes, I feel stupid). What's the best way for me to find out how to do that? Any suggestions?

Thanks, Larry

lgj, thanks a lot for listening to my tunes and the compliments. I'll try to explain how I set up my mp3's:

1) Record everything into my BR-8

2) I then record my final mix to a stand alone CDRW. I use the BR-8's digital out to the CDRW's digital in.

3) I then take the CD of my tune to my computer and use MusicMatch to convert it to an MP3 file. You can use a lot of different programs to do this...In fact a lot of todays computers come with decent programs for creating MP3's. Mine came with MusicMatch. I upgraded to the full version, but even the one that came with the computer could have done this.

4) I then set up a music web site at www.iums.com . It's a free service. It will walk you through the initiial set up and ask you to down load your MP3 file.

That's pretty much it. It does require a computer with a built in CD ROM, a MP3 program, and internet access, but other than that it's pretty easy.

I hope that helps. Enjoy!!!
