just got a 2nd hd for audio only. do i install sonar on this drive or not/ i want to stream audio from this drive not just store audio any suggestions would be great! p.s. this is the best site on the web period!

I would say install AL of your applications on the C: drive, including Sonar, and keep just the data files on the second drive. You can go into the Sonar configuration and tell it what folders/drives to default to for data files.

I second that !
Use your new drive for audio only...just instruct your software to write the audio files to your new drive which will probably be D:
Just use caution when setting jumpers and how you configure your IDE cables and what is master and slave, etc..

motowntom,

I third the above opinions. The dedicated audio drive should only be used to store and write the audio files. From within Sonar, to to audio options, and the advanced tab. There's an option within for where to write audio to. Select your new drive there. Don't use it for anything else. Make sure to defragment often, and keep the drive only about half-full at the most, for optimum performance.
