Just starting to look into it, and wondering where the gotcha's are. So far it seems pretty straighforward, other than I think I'll need a new video card, something with 1080p capability.
There's also the question of where to put the monitor. I've built a new recording desk to optimize mixing. I no longer have any 19" rack stuff on the desktop, and the speakers are going to be on dedicated stands just behind the desk in a 4'-4'-4' equilateral triangle. I want to place the LCD monitor between the speakers, but not have it interfere too much with what I'm hearing. Hopefully a 27" monitor will be big enough that I can see it from a distance of ~42 inches.
