24bit through 16bit fx

Hi,
I am planing on buying a Lexicon lxp1 (which I think is 16bit, right?).

I am recording at 24 bit in my Korg D16 and I would be going from the aux out through the lxp1 and back into the D16; is this a bad idea, what are the audio implications?

Connection between units is digital or analog ?
If analog, there is no problem. There is no big sound degradation, altougth it pass 2 times thru D/A and A/D conversion.
If it is digitally connected, you must use 16 bit resolution in whole system, or use bit rate conversion on Lexicon's input/output ( if available ), and clock from one master source, usually recorder.
