24bit soundcard with firewire device

so....... lets say i got the MOTU 828 MKII. - which is a firewire device.

Do I need a soundcard that is 24-bit to be able to use that?!

I have a delta 44 now...does that mean i have to have both?> ha.

No, you don't need the 44. The MOTU is an external soundcard.
