The 2488neo claims to allow import of mono WAV files from a CD. When I tried to import a mono guitar WAV file I got the error - "Wrong type of CD. Check the disc." No alternatives are mentioned in the manual. I could play the CD through my system and go to an input that way but that defeats using the built-in CD drive which is supposed to send the data to a virtual track. Any help would be appreciated.

What is the exact name of the file?

What is the frequency?

What is the bit depth?

Is the wav file on the root directory of the disk?

Following the procedure on page 85, at what point did you get the error message?

Hi Manslick - here're answers to your ???

Is the wav file on the root directory of the disk?
I used Roxio's Toast 6. It's a standard CD - I've made tons of these. Suddenly this one is bad?? Why? Is it the "6" in the title? Is that off limits? Does it have to be a letter? That would be really odd! I don't know if it's in the root directory. It's a music CD.

Following the procedure on page 85, at what point did you get the error message? I followed the procedure on pg. 85. In step 4 when I select the disc to import the error message appears. Why and what now?

My guess is the file name is the problem. Try using something like TRACK001.wav - the DOS 8.3 convention.

Short of that my next guess is the disk is "bad".

Wow! That seems like a real stretch. Good ol' DOS. Argh! If this is the reason, why isn't such a cryptic naming convention mentioned in the manual? I know, I've seen it in other posts - the manual sucks. It's really too bad. I'll give it a try and let you know what happens. Thanx - Here goes...

OK, now this is getting frustrating! I made an audio CD with three audio tracks on it. So, to make sure the disc is OK I opened this and found that the files in it are AIF. Somehow, Toast converted the WAV files to AIF? How's that even possible? Anyhow, that was a major red flag. Aha! The disc should have WAV files on it. So, I'm making a DATA disc instead of an audio disc. It just finished so I'm going to test this and get back to you. Wish me well...

IT WORKED!!!! You MUST make a DATA disc not an audio disc! Why this isn't in the manual is insane. I was ready to go postal over this. Man, talk about frustration. Tell all your users about this one. What a tough lesson.

Now, what lies ahead...

Yeah that's a common issue. Music as data is only transfered as wav format, which of course you now know.

I find using the free audio editor Audacity is really handy.

And to be fair it is in the manual. Page 85 - Importing from CD (mono WAV files).

Glad you got it.
