Has anyone A-B-C tested these units to see how they compare?
I'm looking to upgrade my project area from my Fostex VF80 and want to know which will give the best results. I know the Fostex is the least expensive, but the others have more features.
While I could conceivably throw in the Yamaha AW1600, the Boss 16-track and Korg, I thought I would like to keep the comparisons in the under $800 price range.

:cool:YES_YES_YOU CAN:

For a mere couple of hundred bucks, you can get the AW1600 and it has a very good system of sound reproduction.

Although the manual tends to be typical Yamaha=it is a vacuum. [Instead of saying it SUCKS].

But, the 1600 also has a dedicated site for "very" good help with NO flaming.

I have a Yam2816 that was beginning to age; very slow to do a full CD--over an hour plus. I bought the AW1600 and can burn a FULL CD in around 9 minutes.

Plus, the 1600 unit has these "mastering algorithms," which are NOT on my 2816. And, the "dynamics" are much better on the 1600.

It operates in similar fashion to the 2816 but it is TOO easy to delete a recorded song due to NOT looking closely where the little dotted select line is when you push the button.

But, the SOUND is very good in the final product when you get to know the box.

So, hit your girlfriend for the extra couple of hundred and get the AW1600. Nope, I don't work for them or sell them. I just use them. Drive to a vendor and listen to a unit or contact someone in your area who has one.

Cheers and have fun.
