2488 operational question

Hi folks...Can anyone tell me whats up with unlinking the "stereo pairs" tracks 13 thru 24. I am disappointed I cant seem to find a way of recording these tracks independently of it's paired track..and theres only one fader to control both tracks. Is it possible to separate them? Wonder why the advertising did not go into the limitations..it really led me to believe that this product was a true 24 tracks. Other than that I'm real happy with the machine. Thanks.....Bob

Remember, the channels link, the tracks do not.

Channels 1-12 can be linked or unlinked in adjacent pairs, channels 13-24 are permanently linked in adjacent pairs.

You can move any track around to any channel.

Record one input on any channel, 1-12. Record stereo pairs on channels 13-24.

Move any of those recorded tracks to any channel for playback.

There's 250 virtual tracks available for each song.

Thankyou.. I think I get it now..I can move any track or tracks to another..but I cannot for instance...record on 13 and then 14 without erasing 13. The paired sets 13-24 must be used as stereo pairs only. ?!?!?
 
You are correct, unfortunately it seems like all DAW makers do this. I too would love 24 independent tracks to record on but I guess their market research must tell them that most users end up pairing some individual tracks with midi machines, amp emulators etc. so they can save some money and make the units a little cheaper by making some of the tracks permanently paired.
You can change the panning of each paired track but you need to get the volume, eqing etc right on paired tracks because if you change one you will change the other. Good luck
 
Or you can ignore everything and bull your way through it as I do and use it as an 18 track machine, occasionally bouncing mixed tracks to the stereo pairs as necessary.

I was playing around with the drum kits last night and was impressed with the quality but I'm never gonna figure them out.
