Okay, so about a month ago I asked about drum mics (flr tom,
rack tom, snare, etc.). NOW I'd like a little feedback about
24-track standalone hard-disc recorders. Does anyone out there
have any experience with the lower-end Mackie 24/96's (M or S
models), or the Alesis ADAT HD24's, preferably the less expensive
of the two models, OR any of the more recent Fostex models (not
sure about the exact model number(s))? Any and all feedback,
good and/or bad is welcome. You know the drill; fire away!

I picked up a Mackie MDR 24/96 a few months ago on a closeout deal and it works great. I have not had any issues with it at all.

I have a buddy who has the lower end Fostex D2424LV and he loves it, also.

And, the guys around here who have upgraded to the Alesis HD24 also seem to be very happy with their purchases.

That's about all I know.

Darryl.....

I went from ADATs to an HD24. Along with a GenX6 wordclock, I concider it a MAJOR upgrade. I've had no problems out of it with multiple drives and heavy use. I ride it hard every week. As a recorder, I couldn't be happier but Alesis as a company is kind of scary now.
