i thought i read somewhere in this forum that using a
238 and a mixer would be less expensive than say a 688
can someone give imfo on this setup
i am looking to be able to record 6 or 8 tracks direct
onto cassette tape

If you already have a mixer and want more than 4 tracks, staying in the cassette format, the 238 is an economical way to go and still get wonderful results. It has rca inputs and out puts so it's real easy to hook up to any mixer. I only use mine for when I bring it out to record certain gigs, getting regulated levels from the sound board. I have used it a bit at home but only recording 1 or 2 tracks at a time. I don't know what type or model mixer you should have or get to get 8 lines in and or out that can be controled. If you don't have a mixer or plan to use this to record gigs,The 688 looks real good

thanks hot rocks,
another question/if i have been paying attention/the 688
will take 8 mics and you can have some control with the
688 buttons/
thanks again,
dan
