Never thought I would give up my JV-1080, but the xv-5080 came long. A question...
I seem to have trouble upgrading the operating system using the midi files. I have Sonar and I also downloaded a small utility midi player UpdSMF which is supposed to do the job as well. When I load the midi file and send it (I have a Frontier Designs Sierra midi patch bay) the lights on the front tell me no midi messages are going to output 4. When I just play Sonar, (which supposedly imports midi files), it plays notes on the XV just fine and the lights on the Sierra indicate it is playing.... anybody successful upgrading the OS (can you believe Roland making this 32 midi files long... how about 1 midi file???) I can also use midiquest to send sysex data to the XV no problem... just something about these midi files.
