I'm using M-Audio DMP3 preamp and Audiophile 2496 sound card using RCAs and I'm trying to make each channel into a single track. The way it is recording is it is splitting both channels into a single track as left and right stereo. This can be cool for certain things but not when all vocals are on one side and melody guitar is on the other. Is there any way to seperate the channels into their own respective tracks? or An easy way to make the vocals appear on both left and right without having to sing into both mics at once? Thanks

This is where you need to adjust things in your software to record to 2 different mono tracks. That should do it. It depends on what software you are using how you will do it.

What software are you using.

Usually, you would have the software record the vocal from the input it is in, and the guitar from the input it is in.

Then, when you mix in the software, you can pan them left and right if you want, or leave them in the center.

I am not sure why you would want to vocal on both tracks.

If you are trying to record both parts to a stereo track, well, then you have a problem.

tourettes5139, thanks for your help before! Greatly appreciated.

I'm using Adobe Audition. No, I'm not trying to put vocals on 2 tracks...what I'm trying to do is have my vocal on an ENTIRE single track. The way this is recording using my dual mic preamp is when I sing into one of the mics it put it only on the right channel of the track. I want the vocal to be heard in all speakers (i.e. the center channel) and not just on one side. But like if I do a guitar track the mics catch the guitar from 2 different angels and it sounds awesome on a single track.

I figure dit out. I had to right click on the tracks and select which device to use... i.e. Left channel; Right Channel. thanks
