2 Tracks going the same direction?

Hey guys, i am going to buy a 2 track reel to reel to record vocals on, then transfer to digital. I was thinking of stereo micing the vocals and/or recording guitar at the same time. Can you guys suggest any machines that record 2 tracks in the same direction??? Sorry if thats a stupid question, I have never worked with R2R before. I figured I could benefit from the wider track width of the 2 track since im just going to be recording 2 intruments at a time. Am I right in assuming this?

Tascam BR-20, 32, 22-2 etc are great (probably in that order - the BR-20 only went out of production in the last year or so).

If you want track width don't buy a domestic 4 track 2 channel machine like most of the Akais, Teac X2000s etc.

I've got a Tascam 35-2B which is a great machine. Onboard DBX, half track 15ips. There is NO noise at all on this unit. You don't see many of them out there however, which has always puzzled me. It also has an extra head for 4 track playback. Kinda cool.
Anyone have any idea why this Tascam is so scarce??
