Hey all
Im somewhat of a amature when it comes to sound, but am learning quickly.
I have two questions for you tonight.
1)Im looking into a new mixer (current Behringer 2442 is Crap!)
It needs 16 XLR channels ,Subgroups, and AUX sends.
I have narrowed it down to 2 mixers within my price bracket; The Mackie 1604VLZ pro and the Yamaha MG24/14 FX. The mixer needs to serve as a live sound reinforcement and as a recording point to go into my puter. I also heard that mackie is coming out with a new mixer, the ONYX? which do you reccommend? Or alternatives?
2) This is related to the first question but warrents a new number, With my new mixer i am going to be doing some recording for metal and rock bands. I need to record all of my drums into the puter on one pass, but would like each drum to have its own track (I.E. snare,Kick drum,4 toms, HH,Ride, 2 cymbal overheads, if you couldnt already tell, i am a drummer so, no expense will be sparred for percussian quality, damn guitarist get their sing along mic, muhahaha!) What kind of recording gear will i need to pull this off, keeping in mind that I will be using one of the aformentioned mixers?
I was looking at the Aark 24, with 8 inputs it should work if i send my drums from the mixer to the aark. I guess here is my third question(okay, so there are 3, sue me.)what is the purpose of the 8 outputs on it? Perhaps this is supremely noobish type of question, but i dont know.
thanks in advance.
