2 mics vs. 1

Question... and don't laugh because I'm relatively new at this.

I don't need 2 mics to record in stereo, do I?
If not, then is there some way I can convert mono to stereo after it's been recorded? I've only got sound coming out of the left speaker right now.

stereo is for sissies! mono mono mono! mono rocks the party.

mono is the best.
 
true stereo requires 2 mics......

you can mic something with one mic, clone the track and delay it a tad, and youll have a something better than mono, but a far cry from true stereo........

not a whole lot is recorded stereo....the stereo track comes from a bunch of mono tracks panned around......

btw, all you have to do is pan the track you recorded in mono to the center and it will probably play in both speakers.......

in your software when you are recording with just one mic, choose to record it mono and it should automatically come centered......

Tea, the reason I was giving you shit was because someone asked roughly the same question last month . . . and it erupted in to one hell of a gigantic clusterfuck of a thread for reasons unknown. One of those "you had to be there" kind of things. Although you probably wouldn't want to. :D
