2 Mics to choose from, which one?

Hi All,

Am currently shopping around for a nice mike for vocals. So far I have been recommended the SM MC01 Condenser, and the MXL-1006. Was just wanting to know your opinions on what I should buy? These are both at really good prices at the moment. Or should I go for something else around the $200-$400(AU) range?

First, you have to decide for yourself whether you want a cheap mic, or a "nice" one. Unfortunately, in our unfair world we have to pay for nice things, if we want to do things right without wasting money. Although I don't know the current exchange rates for AU $$$, it looks like something in $400 (AU) range would be a better choice. $400 (US)--even better. May I suggest you to open sticky FAQ link--you will find a lot of information on the subject there. Also, try to search this forum--it seems that 98% of questions are on this very subject.
