Be Here Now
I just got a Blue Baby Bottle & an AKG C414B ULS and have been testing them out on male vocal. My favorite mic is... both. The Baby Bottle gives the vocal a presence that stands it out in the mix. The C414 gives it more detail and bottom end.

I recorded the same vocal take on a Baby Bottle & c414 at the same time and panned them hard stereo right & left and am entirely pleased with the results.

Have any of you made vocal recordings using two mics for one single vocal track in such a way? It there any down side to it (such as phase cancellation or anything else that you're aware of that I may not be hearing)?

Sum the mix to mono. That's so you can tell if you're having any phase "issues".

I ALWAYS record vox with two mics or more. One for phatness (normally also run through a compressor) and one for the edge and definition. I also have been using a room mic so that if the natural verb sounds good, i'll use it 2...peace
