Hello everyone. Just 2 easy questions here. First, how can I add an effect, like amplify, to multiple tracks at once? It seems like you have to do that in the Edit Wav view, and you can only have 1 track there at once (I think.)

Secondly, what is better to make tracks louder? Using Amplify/Normalize on tracks or just pushing the faders up/down with the mixer in CEP? Does using the faders just do the same thing?

Thanks in advance!

You're right about only having track in Edit View. If you want to put one effect on multiple tracks in Multitrack View, you have to use a bus. Left click on the Out button, and then in the popup, left click on 'New Bus'. Then add the effect you want to the right side of the next popup. You need Cool Edit 2.X for this, though.

Just use the faders most of the time. You'll usually not use normalize until the final stages of a mix, and not even then sometimes.

Thanks dobro. I forgot one other thing. How can I slow down the playback of a track so I can find a small part to fix? For example I have a chair squeak that was recorded that I want to get rid of. When I edit the track and zoom in, I can't find the exact spot that I want to fix because it's playing too fast. How can I slow it down?

thanks again

Dunno how to slow it down, or even if you can do that.

I use a series of zooms, one at a time, to home in on the section I want to edit
