Hello all!! just got my br-8 digital recorder a few weeks ago and put a couple songs together. Don't know much about recording so I thought ya might give me some tips. I have been told the vocals have too much verb.. Thanks for your time !

HEy speedracer, Yeah, it always helps to post a url. I thought I was looking at my mp3.com page for a second. Same color scheme. Too much verb on the vocals, sounds familiar to me, I'm told the same thing about my stuff. Getting back to your stuff, yeah I thought there was a little to much verb on the vocals. The Atlanta song was really nice though. Harmonies were nailed too. Looks like you have a living room full of background singers, you need to stick a mic in their face and put them on the payroll. I checked out bye bye also, it had it's moments but I liked the first one better.

Speedracer,

Checked out Atlanta, very nice tune, recording was very smooth. Nice harmony, great job.

Question; is that the reverb that comes with the BR-8, if so it sounds great. BR-8 sounds damn good. What mics, drum machine?

Guitar swell sounded really good too.

GT, thanks for the comments I really appreciate it. The reverb is from the br-8, all the effects including the lead swell that you were refering to are internal effects on the br-8, I love this machine! As i said I have minimal knowledge of recording and the br-8 is very simple. The drum machine is the Alesis sr-16, the mic I use is an inexpensive dynamic Behringer xm8500. I run most of my stuff through a small behringer mx602 4 channel mixer.

Thanks for taking the time to listen.

Hey Mr. Racer:
Listened to "Atlanta".
It has a great feel to it, enjoyed the lyrics, too.
Thought that the reverb has a little heavy on your vocals, it tended to muddy your voice slightly. You have good voice, so don't bury it in effects or hold back when singing.
But everything else sounded great.
Good job.

downloaded "Atlanta" and "Bye Bye"....yeah maybe too much verb on the first one, but I liked it on "Bye Bye"....and I liked the Mark Knofler feel to the vocal and beat too, on "Bye"...Very clean mixes.....very well written tunes....

I noticed that you have two of the members of the group Hanson hanging around your house...they have a lot of pull now, and could maybe get you heard by a major label....gibs:D
