Hi,

I've decided to go the softsynth route, and play samples via a midi controller, but now it seems I have to buy a new PC monitor, as my little 800-600 15" CRT won't read all the virtual knobs, etc.

Except for the obvious reasons (space-saving, weight, power consumption)is there any good reason to go LCD instead of CRT? I'm on a tight budget, and you still get so much more bang for buck with the CRT. But if it's really worth it for any audio-related reason, I can save and splurge on a 19" flat panel.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Quasar

LCD doesn't generate RF spikes, so if you record using unbalanced lines that are close to or in front of the monitor (like playing an electric guitar in front of the screen) you won't get noise recorded on your track.

i think it's generally more easier on the eyes too. especially if you're staring at the screen for hours and hours.
