1977-79? peavey vt classic 212

Well.I just bought a late 70's peavey vt classic amp.It's got 2 6l6gc power tubes with a solid state preamp. It's the one with the phase effect on it. It's 50 watts into 2 12" speakers,1 blown all the way and the other is on it's way out. I play all styles of music and I would like to know what replacement speakers I should buy for it(preferably around than 150 dollars each)? And does anyone know if the phaser on this amp can only be activated by a footswitch, the phaser doesn't come on at all on my amp. Any help or info about this amp would be cool. I have the exact same amplifier. I have just put in a pair of celestion vintage 30's and am very happy with them. This amp rocks. I am looking for a 2x12 extension cab for it, but even the 2x12s absolutely rip it up. The phaser can be activated by turning the rate know off of the off position. It can be controlled by a footswitch, but it is not really that great anyway. I love this amp.
