Hi,

I wanted to know whether there is a database somwhere of those tapes sold by Columbia and HMV (and also others) in the 1950s.
I'm mainly interested to know about the MONO tapes, but also those 2-track stereo which seem to have disappeared in the early 1960s.
The reason of this question is that I put a hand on six NOS tapes still shrinkwrapped. Two or three are early 2-track stereo tapes and the rest appears to be mono (which includes the Brahms or Beethoven violin concerto with Furtwangler & Menuhin).
As I collect these tapes I wanted to know what else was produced. Any ideas ?

Thanks !

All kinds of ``tapeographies'' abound, mostly housed within the university and/or Government archives designed to preserve and/or restore them. Other than that, Reel-Lady and her sister O-Jayne on eBay are both 2-track nuts, both mono as well as stereo. They girls inherited the passion from their father and drove away a couple husbands apiece on account of it like girl-engineers tend to do.
