i´m thinking about buying another card for my H.St.,"Audiowerk8" for my p.c. studio...they really cheap now (150$ Dolls...)and i can send 8 separate tracks out clean and clear into an external mixer.

it´s 8 analog Outs are just what i need for sending out MIDI drums (turned into waves) separated into a mixer,free-ing up my Vs880 for all other stuff...o.k...now the question is ;

THE CARD IS ON 18 BITS resoluction,not very common..,will this be a major source of troubles,since its not very usual this 18 bits resolucion?...the other card i have is a Audigy i use only for soundfonts-Midi composing,but its limitated by only 2 outs,
...thanks on any help.::cool:

do i have this right? you are recording and want to run midi driven audio from your pc into a mixer?

OG,

You don't need more than two outs. If by H.St. you mean Home Studio, then you already have a capable mixer! Since everything has to come out of one "pipe" eventually, you're much better off mixing in the DAW where all settings are recalled exactly each time you load a tune. When the mix is as you want it, just bounce it down to a single Wave file and you're done!

If you are only using 16bit samples than that card is fine. But if you want to step up you will obviously be limited. I would go for 24bit myself.

Hi there ,thanks all posts,i´m feeling like "one more step towards perfection",so lets go for your kind help on my questions..

My set up; PC- ,CAKEWALK9- ,AUDIGY-Soundfonts- ,Yamaha 32000e burner- ,8 inputs mixer from Behringher(everybody slashs this but it was what i could afford at the time, in my May´s birthday i´m offering myself a Alesis Studio24..ahahh..)and i´ve got also a external DAW ,a VS880ex.All the rest is a lot of stuff not needed to mention here.

so now for the,...

1st- i record my MIDI instruments into "waves" so that i can edit them in a more powerfull way,..say i want to compress and add a slow chorus and a air of rotary efx to a fretless,i couldn´t do that under midi..i only have Soundfonts,no tone generator ,so i make them myself.:
I do the same for the drum kit,record individualy each onekit,(kick-snare-rims-etç) then normalize,compress,room amb,etç..each of them...my mission is to make them as close as possible to a real drummer,even better:
I do Instrumental music mainly(Santana meets Mike Stern/Bill Frisel meets my ESP Telecaster meets Ibanez TubeScreamer meets sounds true-sounds good...)

Basicaly,i use the pc/soundfonts for the base rhythms,the drums and the bass,then on the VS. (i Syncr,PC/VS), and add all the rest of the guitars,voices etç,..so i feel like i need to have those two (drums/bass)coming out separated into the mixer so that it will free up the Vs for all the other instruments,...
So that when all´s recorded,i have 8 tracks comming from VS and 8 more coming from the PC(Cake9) INTO a DAT as a MasterMIX.;)
This big letter should explain why i think i need 8 outs from the PC in order to mix them altoghether with the 8 tracks of VS.

2nd...that Audiowerk card seems to me to be of top quality,its only their lowering its price co´s it has been some years now that they made it,but if the 18bits thing its not an "Issue",it can be just fine for me,please if any knows of troubles within this set up,help me spend my money wiser..!!
