What are the existing options for 16 channel I/O for an older computer?

I want something better than RME if possible?
I presently have (3) Delta 1010s and a couple of Lucid 9624s clocked to a Lucid Genx6.
The Lucid's sound good, I guess i could look into the 8 channel adat versions. I'd prefer not to spend $3k though.

I know the Lynx Auroras presently need an interface (AES-16) that wont work on Win 98.
I have available a RME (3) ADAT card that I can use for the host card, but I'd have to move pretty fast to buy it because he has it for sale.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

The PCI 324 MOTU stuff runs VERY well on 98S.E. I'm running a 2408 mkII on a 500 MHz PIII with 98 S.E. and it's the most stable setup I've ever ran. Look on Ebay or Craigs list for one of their I/Os. I've seen them in the $300 range.

Cool!
I remember early on there were only very specific motherboards that worked with the Motu stuff.
Mine is a Gigabyte motherboard with a Via Apollo Pro Chipset. I wonder if it is compatible?
I'll look into it.

Thanks Track.

Supe,
Sure thing, send me an email or PM that I can keep long enough to get a new setup working and I'll try to make you a super deal on however many you want.
One is in Pristine condition (now in a box for Backup only) the other 2 I need to send in for a tune up prior to selling.

The only machine I've had real issues with was a Dell. The MOTU just would not play nice no matter what I did. I just set my son up with a 2408 like mine into a 733MHz Compaq running 98 S.E. and so far so good.

Also, once upon a time there were compatibility problems with Via chipset computers. I know MOTUs don't like any other PCI cards living in the computer with it (like a PCI video card or a NIC).
