16 bit to 24 bit

does anyone know if I recorded material in cakewalk pro 9 with a 16 bit card and then upgrade to a 24 bit card... if by changing the format to 24 will make the recording sound as good as if it was originally recording in 24 bit ???????

Of course not. You're not going to improve your sound by converting from 16 to 24 bit. You will improve your sound by recording in 24 bit to begin with.

Of course if you have some 16 bit tracks that you want to use in a 24 bit mix...then convert them to 24.
