(so this is posted somewhere else, sue me!)

I have an Art Studio MP, and the preamp tube says 12Ax7A Dual Triod on it.

I bought a Grooves Tube preamp tube to replace the orginal ART's tube, but the GT tube says 12Ax7C on it. A, B, C, D... what's with this alphabet thing?

Will it be a problem if I use the GT tube? Will there be any issues I should know about? What the heck does Dual Triod mean??

A dual triode tube has basically 2 "tubes" in one. The dual indicates that there are 2 three element tubes in one package. The last designation letter is the base style of the tube. Generally this is only a problem if the unit has a special type of tube clip to hold the tube in. If the tube fits you'll be fine. They should be electronicly the same.
