12 min song on an MR8? Here's a puzzler for you techies

I've got a 36min capacity card and a 12 minute song. Any ideas? The song does have a natural break, and I could record it as two 6min songs - but how do I stitch them together? I have n-track, if that's any good, but have never used it, and need very basic guidance.
 
Eh? A 128 gives 24min. I've got a 256 which (as I say) gives 36. Any more ideas?

export all the tracks to n track, mix the song to taste, its really easy, and there is some great help available, get wav manager form fostex, and download your tracks to pc, dont mix them down first, do one at a time, open n track go to import wav file, it will interpolate the file to 16 bit 4800, check the dither button to 1 do this for each track, then uq, add effects, mix to taste, mixdown song under file, burn cd.... if you want any help with n, audiominds.com is where all the experts with this program hang out... they are really helpful

really best way to do it.....
 
Sorry Cardiff, I wasn't awke this morning and read megs instead of minutes. I think the plan above to do it in N-tracks is reasonable. If you've got a lot of tracks, otherwise, you'd have to bounce some tracks, and get it right. You might have to do an undo or two until you've got a good mix. I agree that exporting the tracks individually and mixing in the PC makes more sense. Or- simply use less tracks.-Richie

I get the feeling you're repeating yourself...hehe... :D

I'm curious about the wav manager from fostex. Why do you need this? Does the MR8 save files in a format other than wav?

Thanks for advice - but I don't understand this exporting of individual tracks - the manual says you can only export a stereo wave file. And as I may not have time to master n-track, is there still a way to put two halves of a song together?
 
Ignore the first sentence - just checked out the instructions for the wave manager.

exports, stereo and mono tracks, only imports mono tracks, 16 bit 144, very easy to use, ,it make the communication between the pc and mr8 better, you can just drag files and drop them with wav manager, but if you do any punchin in or skipping around on the recording, it wont like up correctly....

the whole pont is to import individual tracks, and mix on pc, adding eq and effects, you can use a wav editor and paste the two halves together if you want, but should still process through the pc to get it sounding good......
