I see deaf people
I have midi quest and for my MPD and Pod it works fine but for the 1080 some of the SysEx banks wont load up..it works fine transferring the oe user bank but Ive stuck some freebies off the net on and its 50/50 whether they load or not. I also bought 5 banks yesterday (originally from Roland floppies) and they just wont go on..

Tried "Change it" just in case it was a problem with MQ and Im getting the same result..instead of opening up into a list of named presets when I drop n drag the bank in it just comes up as "00 generic bank"

The midi light will flash as if transferring data but the window just shows the preset name already on it..not the "receiving data" message??

any help much appreciated :)

Ok let me try to explain. It doesnt matter on the software you use. i.e. WinJV/XP, ChangeIt, midiquest, sounddiver or whatever.

When I bought my 1080 in hell, maybe 1999 (when ever it first came out) I had some junky motu 2x2 midi interface. My dumps never worked. So I searched the net for an answer to no avail.

I bought the 1080 and the interface at the same time. I could send dumps to my jv-880, tx81x, fb01 and other modules. It all worked fine. So I took the 1080 back and swapped it out for another.

That didnt work either. I was getting pretty pissed at that point. A guy on AOL i was chatting with in a music chatroom told me that it could be the interface. I didnt get it at first because it worked on performing dumps to the other equipment.

But he said that some interfaces send data at different speeds. And and modules can see it in 2 ways.

Sending data to fast, the synth may look at it as a overload.
Sending to slow, the syhtn can see it as a 'data time out'
Some interfaces cant throttle (for a lack of a better word) the data xmission speed.

The 1080 is a tempermental creature when it comes to receiving a bulk dump.

I went through 4 or 5 different interfaces before I found what worked for it.

Anything from Emagic.

I swear by them. I have 3 mt4's and 1 Unitor-8

You can pick them up pretty cheap these days.

PS

I have like somewhere around 6500 patches  for the jv/xp series. They are in sounddivers LIB format. PM me and I'll hook u up :D

No, I 99% would bet its your interface.

If you use a regular interface (little 2/2) stuff this will most likely always happen.

Plus, I recomeng Emagics unitor series because they were designed to work hand-in-hand with Logic which is known very well for its itegration of midi and synth bulk dumps and integrating implimentation of direct patch inserts to midi tracks

:D

Hell, I am still using Cubase 5 VST from like 2001 or so LOL

I'm A Fool For Old Skool :)

PS, chk out my new avatar. bad ass ! Custom made from some pics on the net LOL
