Hey folks, I have a quick question. I just started setting up my equipment last night & hooking everythig into my new 1010lt. I ran a quick vocal track just to check it out. I have an Audio Buddy preamp. My plan was to jumper the 1010lt so that the pres were not active on 1&2 and to use them at line level because I figured the Audio Buddy's pres would be just a little better than the stock pre's on the 1010lt. I thought this would be especially nice because I could run balanced cables from the Audio Buddy (TRS) to the 1010lt (XLR).

I am getting a signal into the card & into Sonar. The trouble is that it comes across like it is clipped, but not all the way up to 0 db. The wave is practically sqaure at about -6db in this case and, as you might expect, very distorted. Plus, nearly have to have the Audio Buddy gain at zero.

When I run an unbalanced cable from the Audio Buddy to in 3, I have no problem and it sounds good. However, I really would like to use 1 & 2 balanced with the Audio Buddy. I'm pretty sure the jumpers are set right on the card. But I will recheck them if I don't hear any other ideas. I'm sure it's just some dumbass thing I'm missing. Anyone else here using a 1010lt in this (or similar) configuration? Anyone have any ideas?

Any help would be greatly apprecitated.

TIA :)

I don't have an LT, but from the LT manual:

"The XLR inputs can be configured
to accept either microphone level signals or balanced line level signals, accomplished by
setting the jumpers located on the 1010LT PCI card."

Thanks Doc. That's actually where I got the idea to configure it this way. I think...I set the jumpers correctly but like I said, I'll probably pull the card and make sure. Just wanted to check to see if someone else was doing this and maybe I'm just missing something. Just wanted to avoid pulling the card (again) if I can help it.

Thanks :)
