I've seen alot of posts in which someone claims that the 1010 has better converters than the 1010lt. I've actually never seen or heard of any proof though. I have'nt seen an actual comparison performed between the two. Same goes for the 1010 and e-mu 1820m. I don't want to hear any shit about the converters being in/out the box. The 1820m converters are in the box from what I can tell.

I was thinking about upgrading from the 1010lt to the 1820m but maybe it would be a waste of money better spent else where, like on a decent vocal mic.

I've been using the 1010lt for about a year now. Has anyone upgraded from a 1010lt to a 1820m? What improvements did you notice?

look to be spending at least 10 times what you paid for the 1010lt on new convertors to make the upgrade justifiable to your ears. Spent the money on a better mic or mic pre, you'll HEAR what you've spent a lot faster.

Emu cards get some good press around here but they aint anything to write home about. Upgrading to the 1010 from the 1010lt will get you a balanced signal and about 12Db less of a noise floor...will yo0u HEAR the difference? yeah maybe if you have REALLY good ears, will your friends/clients? no, not a chance.

I probably would'nt hear the difference in the noise floor between the 1010lt and 1010. My ears are pretty green. I would like to have balanced connections but I don't experience any noise issues with the 1010lt so upgrading would probably be pointless. Have you tried the 1820m?

I think you're right about putting the money into something else. I do need a good vocal mic.
