i'm planning on buying a small all tube practice amp, does anyone know something more about amps like this?

Once you get below 15 watts you start getting into boutique makers only for the most part.

Emerysound.com

Vintone.com

I want the Emery Spotlight.

I scored a boutique Garnet amp, only 6 made, 7W. Called a "Mohawk", today was the first time I jammed with it with a drummer, and I was blown away that this little amp had the guts to survive in a jam session. And for recording? It is amazing. If you can find one, they are so well worth it, you can open them all the way up without going deaf, and they sound amazing

thanx for all the replies; outlaws the emery looks amazing !(sounds amazing too i guess - pricetag???)

the carvin doesn't have the looks but is more in my price range - (even though european prices are 20-50 % higher.)

Check out the Epiphone Galaxie - 10 watts, 10" speaker. Also the discontinued Epiphone Electar Tube 10, also 10 watts, but 8" speaker. I haven't tried either one, but they get good reviews and are cheap...

sorry this is an old thread, but I was searching-

I want the Harlequin real bad !

Can't find a price though

and the nearest dealer is in Vegas and that even looks like a shabby used gear place

anyways, any tips on price?

thanks

They're around $1400 new and dealers don't have a lot of room to wiggle.

everybody that has suggestions....

should post an mp3 using the amp in reference.....

or it's all for naught.

Who likes the sound of a fender over a marshall.

night and day.......

they're all like that, you know.

one person's poison........

there are plenty of sites on the web that list low wattage amps.....

i think examples would be much more worth it.

i only have examples of a 60 watt mesa.....

but i have played a THD univalve..... that's my vote!

yes I know what you mean

I went to the Cornford site and listened specifically to the Harlequin clips and just sat here and cried..

I mean low watts, great roar, 12" speaker

then I saw the approx. price from Track Rat and really started sobbing !

I will continue my search. I must have tube, I must experience it. But I also need to be able to use recording in an apartment , although I have made an isolation cab

The ycv 20 is a grerat sounding amp. I played one in a guitar store, and if I had the money, I'd have one now. You can get some specs here .

Look for a Peavey Classic 20
15w all tube tweed amp with a 10 inch speaker. You can usually score them off of ebay for around $100.00. I had one and I sold it. It has chicken head knobs Master, Volume, Bass, Mid and Treble. It was a cool little amp.

I will tell you about another little amp that I just got about a month ago that just blew me away. Roland Cube 15!!! It is a solid state amp, but I was really impressed with the sounds I can get out of this thing. I only paid $100.00 for it. It has an 8 inch speaker, closed back cab, 15 watts. It sounds WAY bigger than it actually is. It has two channels. Channel 1 is clean and Channel 2 has OD, Distortion, Metal and Metal Stack. They are supposed to be modeled after Boss pedals. I dont know but this thing rocks!! The ONLY drawback is that it has no channel switching.

You may want to check out a Fender Blues Jr.

It's all tube, 15 watts RMS with 12" speaker. Now it all depends on what kind of sound you're looking for. I was looking for an amp that would give me a crystal clean to slight overdrive warm tone at moderate volume. And that's exactly what the blues jr does. It is AMAZINGLY LOUD for it's size. It's much louder than the Line6 FlextoneII 60 watt solid state that I have.

You will need pedal/POD for a metal sound. It does have a "FAT" switch which boosts the mid's, and gives you a nice thick/clean sound. Has reverb too!

Epiphone Galaxy 10 - Played it, sounded like a tin can with an alarm clock speaker.

Peavy Classic 20 - Haven't played one (no reverb)

Peavy Classic 30 - Almost bought one. It has better distortion than bluesJR. The particular one I looked at rattled, so I didn't buy it. Nice amp though, and even louder than bluesJR.
