Hey guys, I'm taking a bit of an opinion poll here. If you could make a budget for $10,000 to buy gear for a project studio, what would you buy? Does not include the cost of a computer. Basically I'm trying to upgrade away from usb interface/2in2out type of things. Anything will help, I'm still in the planning stages of this and I'm looking for ideas if anyone would like to give their input. Thanks guys! :D

What type of things do you plan on recording in this "project studio"?

I'd buy a Presonus FP10, a few SM57s, Beta 52, some SP C4s, and a LDC or two. A couple mic stands and spend the rest on a bottle of Crown Royal, a Gretsch Falcon and put the rest towards the principle on my mortgage. :drunk:

Jake,

If you plan on progressively adding to this studio and making it work for you, you would probably be better off building the 'right' environment for a project studio. In other words; I recommend that you build/remodel a room for the studio and treat it acoustically.
You will find that even though you have less-than-the-best equipment, you can make and mix excellent recordings that will translate well to other folks living rooms, cars, & pickup trucks. ;)

Too many folks who say they have a 'studio', more often than not, only have studio equipment in a 'room'. The word recording studio refers to a room designed acoustically for the purpose of audio recording.

Cheers,
John
