1/4 input?

Hello, this is my first time posting, but I've been recording and sampling for some 3 years. I've always used this adapter from 1/8th to 1/4th and plugged the guitar chord to it to go to the pc. I bought a new graphic card, which came with a new sound card. There's a weird input on it, I don't know if this is the sound card? Or are there better ways of recording with low cost inputs?

My guess based on your thorough explanation is that it is XLR, RCA, or SPDIF.

I know what it is! All you have to do is ram the 1/4 inch plug in any hole there,if it doesnt fit get the hammer! Those are the new soundcards that require a little self maintenance
