hey thanks for the link..i finally found the manual about a year ago in a box. I never have used it for recording..i just use plugins (which work fine for my demos). tom, you can definetly get enough gain from the dbx. and it fattens up a bass signal nicely...i used it with a bass with...

specifically, if anyone has the time, I'd like some hints on the vocal mixes..they seem muddy and I'm trying to learn what to do to clear them up. Thanks

    yamaha mg10/2 users...a question

well, of course it's not misson critical. I just like to have separate controls..I work solo (write and record my own material) and usually when I track late at night I just pull down the faders for the main outs and use the phones...no big deal really it's just that I thought this board had...

    yamaha mg10/2 users...a question

I just received one today and I have a quick question.. why does the ST level have to be up so that the C-R/Phones level will come up? if I zero the ST knob the CR/headphone knob, even when maxed out, farts a little bit of a signal...but with the ST up it's fine.. I thought these would be...

    my mixes: need some advice.

thanks for the feedback... yes I did try compression..but mostly I ride the faders....on some of the tunes they are smoother.. on that first tune, I'm singing 3 parts and and I rode the faders...I tried a 2:1 at -18db and that helped but when I compressed the whole mix it was too compressed...

    my mixes: need some advice.

I'm trying to learn to get things to sit better in the mix..it seems as if the vocals jump in and out sometimes. If you guys would take the time, would you listen to a few of my tunes?: http://www.mindsetband.com/cd/ might work better to right-click and DL the mp3..(128 kbps). these are...

How do you guys add drums, bass, keys to your guitar tracks?

I play the guitar, bass and sing the vocals on my recordings. I add drums and/or percussion with fruity loops. I get great results. BTW, I have added bass parts with fruity loop's piano roll before...but it sounds like a moog or something (which is cool for some things)..

    reducing volume of acoustic drums

we did that (low volume w/ headphones) with a drummer who played some roland v drums..that was killer.. but: actually, we mainly ran everything through a mixer and used one powered speaker on a stand turned up just enough for everyone to hear....no headphones.. it was really nice to be able to...

    reducing volume of acoustic drums

thanks for the responses.. well we've all played for a long time and the thing is he gigs regularly with a blues outfit that makes him have to play loud (becasue half the band is going deaf and they crank their amps)...we have myself on acoustic guitar and vocal, an electric guitarist and...
