    UR 44 vs. UR RT4 - recommendations?

I know this is an old thread, and my apologies for resurrecting it but came across it and thought I'd give my 2 cents. I used the UR44c as my mobile rig, and replaced it with the RT4. Why? Because of more than just Rupert's name. I always liked the no frills, clean preamps that the UR series...

    Hows this mixed?

To mirror what TalismanRich said, the volume of the bass on that kick makes the song unlistenable(i don't think that's a real word, but you get it anyway:D). Did you mix on very small monitors/speakers? There are also a few adlibs that jump out way too much and then others are buried. My...

Solved Generic Remote - Can't assign to "monitor"??

Thanks jimmys69, very useful. Did not know about that function, i'll give it a try and see if it works with my workflow. **Update: Funny thing, as i was checking out what you mentioned, i also figured out the answer to my question hahaha. The monitor function is under VST Mixer if anybody...

Solved Generic Remote - Can't assign to "monitor"??

Hi Guys Setting up another midi controller on my rig at home as a generic remote. All buttons, faders and knobs assigned as desired and working well but then i realized i have never assigned the monitor button before but use it often for tracking. Problem is i cannot find the command to assign...

Connecting my monitirs to my desktop computer???

Why not use the R16 as connected to the pc as and interface and run the monitors from there. No need to buy another interface, the R16 is one. It is so easy to move from recording space to desktop with it. It's designed to be used like that(mobile recording and brought back to desktop). I...

    Time sig anyone?

Thanks gecko, seems a slight chance I'm not as crazy as i thought although my wife would happily argue against that..

    Time sig anyone?

Alright, it's been a long day and I need to go to bed. But before I do, I decided to be THAT guy and ask the drummers a stupid question. Can anyone tell me the correct time signature for this drum track? Is it 4/4? I have never had issues with time sig's but i'm fried and think i'm...

    Sonarworks

Exactly!! Yes it does both. You have the option at any time to swith it on or off. Pretty much yes. If you know the problems in your room and "know" how certain genres or songs sound within that room, then i feel a person is golden and don't "need" calibration software or major treatment. I...

    Sonarworks

Ahh okay i see where we are missing each other hahahaha and partly due to me not explaining it in the best way(english is not my first language, plus i had to rush my responses a bit). My bad. And yes you are correct in saying that it will not do the trick 100%. This is how it works: 1. When...

Yes, we both do agree that it is not a fix. Done with that. In exactly the same way you would compensate for offending frequencies without it. As you said before: This will be accomplished during the mixing stage, primarily with eq. Sonarworks is just an eq on your masterbus and you mix into...

    Sonarworks

Nobody stated that it fixes the room, in fact we both said it does not. Compensating for offending frequencies. Again, not a solution as i stated. The solution is to treat the room correctly. The software is the Advil. The room treatment is the cast with healed bones. . Yes, that is EXACTLY...

    Sonarworks

Good, cause no one else is saying it either. Thinking it could fix the room would be absolutely absurd and i obviously agree that that's why the pros spend large sums on treatment. It goes without saying. What I am saying is that it helps("helps" being the word to focus on here) work...

I should probably add that IF you do decide to use software like this, make sure your measurements are 100% correct. If any of the measurements are off my even a small bit it can end up sounding worse. I've used the Reference microphone they provide and an EC8000 with calibration file. Both work...

    Sonarworks

I agree that the room needs to be fixed first, for sure. However, the vast majority of home recording addicts aren't able to have the room treated correctly or have small/odd shaped spaces to work in that make it very difficult to sound good. That's where software like this comes into play. If...

I used their Reference 4 and it definitely helps if your room isn't all that great. I used it in a tiny room with very little treatment and it definitely worked. I won't say that my mixes sounded better to me at my desk, but it did translate better on different sources.

Audio Interface recommendation for recording vocals and guitar input

My former teacher always said, a good mix comes from 10% gear, 90% mixing engineer. I stand by that. As one of our projects my classmate made a 3 song demo using only Audacity, a cheap $60 interface and two SM57's. It blows a lot of mixes i hear on HR out of the water. This proved that there is...

80's Rocker "Death will be the End"

I get a Motley Crue meets Megadeth vibe :guitar: I agree with Bulls Hit on the drums, but i don't think it should be brought up too much. One or two db's should do it, but the overheads are definitely clashing with the vocals as endless rain commented, so try and compensate volume wise and some...
