Achieving Clean Electric Guitar Sound Recording

Squier by Fender is the cheapest insturment you can find in the market, and I think that the root of the problem is in the source, it's just not good enough for getting a good sound.

You can get away without a great singer for a robot effect :D

    "Processed" Vocals

You got most of it, but totally depends on what you try to achive, My ideal robot vocals are extreme auto-tune, heavy gating, ring mod, and possibly a vocoder. Also look into flangers, phasers and rapid chorus(maybe even some leslie emulations). The science(!) - well, the auto-tune is for...

    Time Signatures!

I found out that I use 7/4 a lot, But it just comes naturally, it has this feel that clicks something. Also 5/4 is a big one for me, you don't hear a Tarkus every day :D

    Control surface

Ok, interesting, I know for sure that control surfaces work by midi, so this got to be a USB midi cable that Korg has put there.

    Control surface

Oh yeah! Its a great tool, you'd need a long midi cable though, might cost a few bucks.

    Control surface

Do you own an iPad or an iPhone(/iTouch)? There are some really good apps that act like control surfaces and work over wifi.

Need a free keyboard track? Here I am :D

Not that I can think of at least, but I will do my best if you'll send me an MP3 of your track so you can get the idea! :) If you won't like what I did I'll be happy to retake it to your liking. I do realize I didn't mention it previously, I have perfect pitch so I will probably only ask for...

What magic button do I push to get this vocal sound?

It was live, but with many overdubs before it'd hit the record.

So what to do about tiny timing inconsistencies?

That is certainly not a good moment :P For me the slightness gets out of hand when it's about more then 12ms a difference, just as with latency, that's when you start to hear that there's something wrong.

So what to do about tiny timing inconsistencies?

That's just bad... The deal is that you don't need your tracks to be in perfect sync, or else you'd just get a midi track played with samples of that instrument. The slight time differences is what makes your track sound real, and that's not a bad thing. ;)

    Tips for Strings?

Ok, I heard it, and I would make the string arrangement a bit more open, with a bit of octave gaps, But generally it's very well done, I still think that if you'd take it a bit more to the background it will sound more pleasing and help the song a bit more. (By the way, if you have a midi file...

    Tips for Strings?

OK, heared it in lo-fi(wow that's lo-fi), becuase that the hi-fi stopped after 20 seconds. I can't tell for sure, but it seems fine, just try and keep it a bit more backgrounded in the mix, so it will blend better. (My opinion)
