Can anyone reccommend a good CD replication/packaging co.?

Been shopping around online. Some of the companies have some bad reviews. Even good companies can have a few disatified customers so neg reviews don't necessarily mean anything, but---. Anyone have a good consistent experience with a particular company?

Special Thanks to those who helped me get from zero to creating a project

Thanks to Marik, Tom V. ("Audio Whore" of Materinghouse--ha-ha hilarious post!), M. Joly, SS Glen, Darrin, Shadow 7, Gecko, Jim Lad, MassiveMaster, and Nick The Man who bought my Rodes NT1A stereo pair and put me on the "good guys" list--(and anyone I left out) I got lots of help choosing the...

M-Audio Pulsar 11 matched stereo pair light usage brand new $200 includes shipping

Light usage 3-4 hours in my living room. These are great mics, just not the perfect ones for my room and sound source. They are medium diaphram mics with avery flat natural response and have been compared to Neumann KM184's (I believe they are copies )I think they would be ideal for drums and...

Has anyone used both Sp C4's and Beyer MC930's--any comparisons?

I know now, for sure, that choice of mics really depends on the room and the sound source, which is in this case an acoustic grand piano. However, I'm considering the Beyers for some time in the future. The C4's in cardioid, are doing an awesome job, but I'm sure there is better and I'm curious...

question about damged SP cardioid capsule-- I dropped it dammit!!!!

The casing bent and it woudn't screw on to the mic so I tried to fix and screwed it up worse. The guys at SP are sending me two new ones but they are the silver ones from the pre 2006 mics. They said it wasn't a problem and that the capsules are matched, he tested them, he said. Since I don't...

Another question for professional audio engineers

Can damper "wooshes" be completely removed from recordings of piano solos in the mastering process? If so, what effect can it have on the sound of the recording. I know it's better to deal with the problem post production. My Steinway tech guy may be able to reduce the noise, I'll find out next...

    Rode NT1A matched pair pristine.

Rode NT1A matched pair new (used for 3 hours in my house) $300 Rode NT1A factory matched pair. Used in my livingroom for about three hours--if that. Comes with case, shockmounts, and factory matched certificate, etc. Pristine like new condition. They are great mics but not appropriate for my...

what's all the fuss about noise floor?? any feedback?

I just got a pair of SP C4's. When I opened the package and read the spec sheet it said 18db noise and I thought, crap! ---it said 16db noise on the website! But, the mics are quiet. Almost, if not as quiet as the Rode NT1A'a I was using. What does all this mean? I used a pair of Pulsars which...

    question for sound engineers

To what extent can hiss(more like white noise) be filtered out in mastering process? My NT1A's are dead quiet. My Pulsars with 16db noise level give very slight noise compared to the Rodes. I like the sound of both but may have a preference for the Pulsars not sure yet. I'm hesitant to...

SP c4 omni pair vs. Audio Technica 4022?

Anyone have any experience using Audio Technica 4022's for acoustic piano? I was planning to get a pair of SP c'4s and use with omni capsules but the noise floor is a bit high, 16db , and there are occassionly problems with the c4's and they have to be returned. I know as far as manufacture...

question about "noise" issues with new Tascam HD P2 with Oade HD upgrades

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I've sold my Microtrack 11 to one of my piano students and have moved on to an upgraded Tascam HD P2--- and within my limited experience, and in my humble opinion, this recorder kick ass. Dead quiet preamps...

Do ribbon mics come in matched pairs for stereo recording?

If not, would their be any problem with using two ribbon mics with slighhtly different frequencies for recording acoustic solo piano?

Would recording in 24 bit/48kHZ present a problem in the mastering process?

I'm recording acoustic piano solos at home. I spoke via e-mail with several audio engineers a while back about having the music files mastered, eventually, for producing a CD. The engineers told me I should make sure to record in 24/96 format. However I'm considering a possibility of recording...

Does quality of a digital field recorder matter if---

you are using it with SPDIF out of quality preamps and quality mics? For instance if I use my Microtrack 11 with say a good preamp and mic, how would using a higher end field recorder impact the quality of sound. Would their be a difference?

Have a question concerning ribbon mics y'all

I'm interested in experimenting with ribbom mics, probably 48v phantom power type. Since I have to record 5-7 feet out from 7' Steinway B in my living room, I'm concerned about noise (hiss). In most of the ribbon spec, ribbons seem to have a higher noise floor. I've been experimenting with...
