Thanks for the input, good Sirs! :) I still don't know what to do. Now with my new soundcard (M-Audio Fast Track Ultra 8R, it's absolutely great) Sonar 7 is "rock solid" (at least 99%), but then again I'm a techhead...

No, all you need is a soundcard. But the better soundcard, the better experience. ;)

I have the same problems my self, they stared with my new computer. I suspect the hard drive (as it keeps making funny noises) so I've ordered a new one. I'll let you know how it turns out. :)

This seems a little odd to me. If you are using a VST as a sound source, it's just a matter of mixing down the audio (you can, for example, just freeze the tracks). :)

Couldn't you set the IO buffer size to 64 or something (using WDM-drivers)?

It should only be a matter of panning to one side (the side you want to keep) and export it as a mono track. :) 1 and 2: I don't think you need to pay cover if you play it live. But if you record it (even if it's a recording of the gig). 3 and 4: That's bootlegging and normally not legal...

As long as you don't sell or distribute your humming, it's OK. ;)

The thing is that you can't set up the Evolution U-XX (I think mine is the U-16 something, an old one) to be a control surface AND a MIDI controller at the same time, you have to choose one. The control surface is fun to use and easiest to set up. Just go to Tools -> Control Surfaces and set...

The problem is that it is not Sonar we are discussing, it's Music Creator. ;) For all I know it doesn't have a Audio Profiler (but I find it unlikely if it supports audio)...

I would guess that the required software for the sound card was installed when you installed the drivers for it... :)

Ah, the C++ library. Yeah, this can become corrupt from time to time...

What soundcard are you using? :)

What Microsoft utility was this?

You also may need to switch from WDM-drivers to ASIO-drivers under Tools -> Audio.
