    The Drive

cool song. what follows is just what i would do... personally, i would take out the thunderclaps and rain in the intro. with them in, it sounds too modern compared to the synth, which sounds kind of retro/analogue-y. kind of sounds like the beginning of a euro dance song. i think the rest...

    Mix Opinions Please...

hey nice work. just listened to "lady." i make only instrumental music, so i'm in the opposite spectrum... great vocal work. i would say that the "bassline" do da doo doo doo in "lady" is a little to much in the front and takes away from the main vocal. other than that, sounds good to me.

    The Smugglers of Falmouth

I think you are right. My monitors are a little bassy, and I could hardly hear the lows. With such clear and distinct hi end in the guitar and percussion, it feels like it's missing the foundation. maybe bring in bass halfway through first verse or when vocals start to make an impact and give...

    a song about work

i feel dizzy hello. i like the off kilter vibe. i think the drums are too thin sounding. if they are programmed, i think you need to add more powerful crashes, and a lower toned snare with more initial crack. also, there are times when the kick sounds out of time. and i think you should...

Best Firewire interface for $800 or below

Yeah I'm really doubting the salesman at this point. I haven't heard anyone say nice things about the Focusrite. Always issues with the Firewire. If anyone love their Saffire Pro 40, please let me know- cuz all I've heard is bad things. :(

Best Firewire interface for $800 or below

What about this? I'm also in the market for an 8 channel firewire interface. The guy from Sweetwater made it sound like the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 was a no-brainer. Basically dismissed the MOTUs. Anyone with Saffire Pro 40 experience, good or bad??

Congrats I just wanted to say "Nice work." :) I have no clue how people do this! Very impressive. Cool how your photos showed the stages of completion too.

what will an A/D interface do to a nice pre-amp?

so would guys just advise to put all budget into the interface and forget a standalone mic pre for now? thanks, this thread has clarified a lot of things i've been wondering about.

what will an A/D interface do to a nice pre-amp?

thanks for the input guys. i guess my theory was to buy a low end interface and a high end mic pre, getting only the high end pre's sound onto my DAW. the FF400 seems to have too many features/too high of a price to fit this theory. i was thinking more along the lines of...

what will an A/D interface do to a nice pre-amp?

thanks suprstar. that makes sense. so, line-ins generally/always bipass built in pres, or is this something i need to specifically look for in a product? most product info listed on musiciansfriend or sweetwater, etc. don't address this...(probably because it's obvious! but, i don't know)

what will an A/D interface do to a nice pre-amp?

I would like to do some nice solo/small group recording at my home. I'd like to use a mic pre like UASolo610 or equivalent. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Solo610/ Obviously, I also need an interface for DAW. (Let me make this clear: this is all in theory. i have none of these items)...
