Midi Controller not being picked up by Interface

I'm a little confused by your question and equipment. Isn't the Tascam just an audio interface? Isn't the Akai just a midi control device? What are you using for a sound module or synth?

DAW help. dont know how to start

I don't know anything about Kontact. What kind of synths or plugs are you looking for? What type of music do you want to produce? Any of the free DAW software programs will work if you want to download free plugs from KVR or some of the other free sites. Maybe one of the free DAW's, and a...

DAW help. dont know how to start

I don't know if this will help, but you are not going to buy any DAW software with all the instruments you are ever going to want or need. These are usually gathered over a period of time, as plug-ins or softsynths. Have you considered any of the Sonar products? The difference in the products...

    DAW with best stock plug-ins?

See if you can find Project5 V2.5 somewhere on the web. It comes with a bunch of plugs and it runs super on XP. It's getting harder to find now that it's discontinued, but really well worth the trouble. I still use it on an XP and a Windows 7 computer. If you ever use rewire, then P5 is your...

Anyone know a cheap and efficient ASIO soundcard?

Not just to prove you wrong, but Soundblaster cards, both internal and external are really cool. They do a great job for what they are intended to do. They are not the choice of anybody wanting to record music in any appreciable quality, especially if you have a dedicated music computer. For...

Planning to buy Headphones. NEed opinions !

I try not to mix on headphones, but I do track and edit on them. Sometimes when it's late and I can't crank the base I use them. The best pair I've ever owned is the "KRK's KNS 8400". I tried ten or so pairs at Guitar Center before landing on these. Not bad for the money.

    Need help with monitoring

Hell, in this country you could end up in jail for just having an online conversation with a 16 year old kid. (male or female) Of course, unless you're a kid yourself, why would you want too. And I still don't buy it .......................

Searching for the Right Home Recording Software

He's quite right, I would vote for Reaper also, because I've tried it and it is a great little program. I just happen to be on-board the Sonar train, and have been for more than a decade. Once you learn the program, there is no going back. It's not so much the tools as you suspect. It's more...

    what burning software to use

Well if you are looking for opinions, then mine is set on "CD Architech" by Sony. If you plan on creating music CD's, and you don't want to concern yourself with the details, this is the program that will do the job for you.

Any tips for preparing Windows 7 for pro audio?

Please try any other "real" audio interface, before you give up on your OS. The 202 is not a real audio interface and should only be used if you don't have other options for copying sounds from mp3 players or the like. Under the best conditions the UCA's line are poor interfaces.
