Just an FYI... The problem with my bandmate's system was his usb drivers. Quick update (using windows update) and the problem was solved.

I've used the ux8 since May 08 and have had no problems whatsoever with it. However, initial setup was a bit tricky. A bandmate also bought one (at the same time) and has been having nothing but problems with his. Going over tomorrow to try and iron out some of the bugs. Line 6 recommends...
