The combination you mentioned is actually pretty good so you can go with it. However I must mention something important - even with a million dollars Neve 88D console, and a 10,000$ Neaumann micrphone, and the best tube preamp money can buy ... your quality will still not be anywhere NEAR radio...

I definitely recommend the Octane preamps. The sound is beautiful and the technology is very well designed. The Octane finally made me leave my Groove Tubes Brick for it and I've been happy since then. As for other preamps in the same price range, I really think that the Octane is best for that...
