Here's Your Big Chance To TOTALLY Diss A Famous Guitarist

For my post im gonna have to say Steve Vai as the only guitar player i truely can't stand. He's so into himself im pretty sure he'd marry himself if he could. His stuff really doesn't move me, and im sorry but just because you know every scale known to man and can write a song around any one of...

Big problem with Flextone II need help fast.

So every time i plug into my flextone i am reminded about how great it sounds. That is until i turn it up past 4 and my speaker farts out and gives me this strange low pitched whining sound. (Not feedback) I have no idea what the problem is because i was told that it was my speaker, but i just...

Hey dude...My main instrument is actually guitar....I have a pretty darn good ear i just have no real experience working a guitar tone into a mix so i have no references on what to look for in a raw guitar sound...setting up an amp to jam is different than setting an amp up for live play with a...

    gig stories

Well this ones more pathetic than anything else but here goes. So the band that i played drums for at the time was asked to play a gig at a local billiards hall. So of course we agreed. We weren't getting payed but we enjoyed playing so who cares. The guy who asked us to play worked as the sound...

    plug-in amp

I'm on the fence about emulation software. I've used it and liked the results, but then again i've never had the opportunity to mic up a tube amplifier. I own Pod Farm, which is essentially Gearbox in a new format, but i've prefered the sounds i get micing my roland cube amplifier with an sm57...

    Drum Recording

The kick sounds extremely boxy i agree...and like everyone said...broaden the image of the drums. The high hat was also dead center as i heard in addition to the toms.....also you can pan the drums based on the drummers perspective or of the audiences perspective. Good start though

    Drum Recording

It all depends on what sound your after...how many mics you have to work with...WHAT mics you have to work with...ect. Recording is an abstract art. There is no RIGHT way to do something. There are guidelines which to work from but thats pretty much it. So yeah give us some details on your set...

    Now they've done it.....

Thats just wrong man.....why man WHY!!!...well to me it looks ugly and since i have no real need for a floyd rose i wouldn't bother....but to each their own. I still however think it really destroys the elegance of an LP. I think i hear my LP crying over this.

When + why do YOU multitrack guitars

Thanks will do...i think the sound i have most recently gotten single tracked sounds fine...but maybe i should mic up my amp with both my SM57 and my Audix F12 (very different characteristics, both very nice) i can achieve a thicker sound. Sounds like a good idea no?

    My raw drum clip!

Hey dude...I think your sound was great...i didn't think it sounded midi at all...while the drums didn't breath like i would like them too...its a very nice sound...and if they think your triplets sound fake...that just means you are VERY consistent...which is a good thing. Good job...i think...

When + why do YOU multitrack guitars

Wheres the need to do so?...i do artificial multitracking in which i double both guitar tracks and pan them hard left and right (two guitar players)...can't you achieve the right tone with just ONE track...i've been getting descent to good results with one track...so yeah shed some light on why...
