FYI, I remember reading somewhere that the Audio Buddy's phantom power isn't a full 48 volts. I don't understand why they'd do this, nor do I know what you'd use a low voltage phantom power for... perhaps some mics will work on lower voltage?? I assume they did it to save money and still appear...

Yeah, I feel like I got my tapes the day after I ordered them... though I may be exaggerating. Whatever the case, the service was great and surprisingly fast.

That stuff's great. I can't tell you how many 'dead' pots I've salvaged using it... I think I saw it once at Radio Shack, but it was part of some combo kit or something. I ended up buying it from parts express. Though the shipping is always killer.

I will say that the 488 is super easy to use and relatively flexible... if you're used to using 4-track cassette units. My friend (who used to be an avid 4-tracker before moving onto protools) was impressed with the quality of recordings you could get with it. I was wrestling my way through...
