34 or 34B? Probably irrelevant but just in case it matters… And just to confirm, it’s global across all meters, and it doesn’t matter if channels are in sync or repro? The simple fact is there is no meter activity unless the source mode is in input?

Well, just saying, if the capstan belt needed replaced, all the rubber is due for replacement. You can’t tell by looking. And a worn pinch roller or maladjusted pinch roller pressure can cause major issues

Did you replace the reel table drive tire? Or just the capstan belt? What about the pinch roller?

I think the OP already explained that. They’ve not used tape before, have an analog mixer and are interested in trying. Why torture yourself by asking :D
